"Starting at the Finish Line"
John Wallace shares his personal story and insight as he dissects Mormon teachings and expounds the gospel in an easy to understand style. 'Starting at the Finish Line" is by no means just a book for Mormons who may be questioning their faith, but for anyone who has experienced the trapping of legalism or a works-based theology in their particular faith life. From chapter to chapter, the author holds your attention with his grace-filled exposition and sincere writing style. I would recommend this book for any serious believer who needs to clarify their gospel faith, resolve their own doubts and deepen their ability to share a clear gospel message with others.

Spiritual Warfare A Biblical and Balanced Approach
Most Christians do not approach their day with the thoughts of warfare and battles. But Borgman and Ventura expound 10 verses of Ephesians 6 explaining the need for a wake up call in this important arena of Christian life. While many may shy away from talk of demons, spiritual forces of evil etc, we must recognize our spiritual enemy and equip ourselves with our God-given tools in order to live as effective ministers and witnesses to his kingdom in our present time.
Each of the 13 chapter takes a few verses of scripture and challenges the reader to think deeply about its meaning and context in Paul's time and in our own lives. One cannot put this book down without being challenged to take our Christian walk more seriously and engage in the battle which Christ has already won for us on the cross. Without the spiritual discernment and equipment that Ephesians 6:10-20, we suffer both individually and corporately in the body of Christ.
In the final appendix of the book, the author challenges the readers to pray especially for Pastors who are at the forefront of the battle and who desperately need the spiritual help of the Christian community.

Prophet on the Run
Prophet on the Run by Baruch Moaz
Jonah is no child's story in this one as the author guides us through the historical background and cultural context in an engaging and easy to understand manner. Great book as a devotional or for a small group. The exciting adventure of Jonah's life comes alive, touches the heart and challenges our own present day struggles.
The three chapter text is broken down into 7 sections with summaries at the end of each chapter where the major points are re-emphasized. There is a short but meaningful prayer and discussion questions to help one reflect and meditate before moving on to the next part of the text.
This book is not only an enjoyable read, but a challenging devotional and a great tool for evangelism and bible study ministry. I plan to use this book for our women's weekly bible study at our church.
